Here you will find the visual and textual artifacts from an arts-based action research inquiry undertaken during my first year as an Assistant Professor of Art Education (2013-14). In this study, I examine the relationship between dialogic pedagogy, visual journaling, and reflection as a way to empower preservice educators to enter the practical and metaphorical conversation of teaching art (Bakhtin, 1981), as a tool to ground myself in the space/place of the professoriate, and as a means of connecting with my students.
